Dairy farmers urged to seek support and information
Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy is encouraging dairy farmers to access information and support from a new centre that opened in Numurkah this week.
The Dairy Information and Referral Centre connects dairy farmers with financial, physical and mental health services and farm and business advisory service providers.
Mr McCurdy said that as a former dairy farmer he understood the difficult circumstances those in the industry were experiencing.
“Our dairy farmers are doing it very tough and I have an appreciation of what they are going through as I have walked in their shoes,” Mr McCurdy said.
“Dairy farmers are resilient but it is important that they access the support that is available.
“From the Numurkah centre people can access information about services and assistance available to those in the industry and staff can arrange appointments and referrals with service providers.”
Moira Shire Council, Numurkah District Health Service and Murray Dairy are working together to provide the dairy information centre.
The Dairy Information and Referral Centre is located in the Numurkah Visitor Information Centre, 99 Melville Street. It’s open 10am-3pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Phone 5862 1733 during operating hours.
