Ovens Valley priorities taken to Canberra

Thursday 6 April 2017

Ovens Valley funding priorities were the focus of discussions when Tim McCurdy MP visited Canberra last week to meet with federal parliament colleagues.

Mr McCurdy attended meetings with Federal Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash and Senator for Victoria Bridget McKenzie.

“Both of these meetings were productive in terms of discussing face-to-face with Minister Nash and Senator McKenzie the Ovens Valley projects that are seeking federal government support,” Mr McCurdy said.

“The Rural City of Wangaratta’s aquatic plan and Maloney’s Square project were discussed along with the issues facing Mount Buffalo Chalet.

“Wangaratta Council has applied for $4.4 million from the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions program for its Aquatic Plan for the Future and $900,000 towards the $1.8 million total project cost for the development of Maloney’s Square.”

Mr McCurdy said it was positive to have the meetings and to keep his federal colleagues up to date on the issues relevant to the local region.

“Fiona Nash and Bridget McKenzie are both committed to the growth and prosperity of regional Victoria and I will continue to keep them informed about local matters of importance.”
