Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy will recount his experience of walking the Kokoda Track at a presentation next week.

Tim and his daughter Danielle completed the trek last year and will share their story of the physical, mental and emotional challenge of completing the 120km trail in Yarrawonga on Wednesday 18 April.

“I completed the trail in honour of Australian veterans with last year marking the 75th anniversary of the Kokoda conflict,” Mr McCurdy said.

“Danielle and I look forward to sharing our experience and giving people an insight in to the conditions faced by Australian troops.

“This presentation will be invaluable to those considering walking Kokoda themselves or are interested in the history of Australian veterans at Kokoda.”

Mr McCurdy has described the eight day trek as the toughest experience of his life.

“There was no easy sections on the track, it was steep up and steep down. The downhill sections were not a rest, they were difficult and slippery,” he said.

“We went the same way as the Aussie diggers, walking from Owers Corner to Kokoda.

“I wore my poppy every day and it was a reminder every step of the way of the sacrifices made by Australian troops.”

The presentation is on Wednesday 18 April at Burkes Hotel, Yarrawonga at 7pm. Gold coin donation to the RSL is appreciated.
