“Eldorado Dredge needs more funding” – Tim McCurdy
Tuesday, March 8, 2022
Today, the Nationals Member for Ovens Valley has called on the state government to provide more funding to the Eldorado Dredge Historic Reserve. Mr McCurdy said, “It is imperative that the state government provide the funding needed to help restore this historical site.
“For too long the needs of the Historic Reserve have been neglected, and now, we find it in a state of disrepair.
“It’s time for the state government to stand up and protect and invest in our local history. Doing so will be an investment into tourism and the local economy.”
Mr McCurdy was recently presented with a petition from Sally Jacka on behalf of the Eldorado Community Group, with over 100 concerned locals having signed to support the funding request. Mr McCurdy tabled the petition in Parliament this week, raising the concerns of the group. “The government cannot ignore the desperate need of the people in my electorate any longer.
“It’s time for them to listen to these people and provide the necessary funding to restore the Historic Reserve back to its former glory.
“I look forward to continuing to support local community groups get the funding that they so desperately need.”
Mr McCurdy extends his thanks to all those who took the time to sign the petition, and the Eldorado Community Group for organising the petition and meeting.
