Building a better Yarrawonga Health under Liberal Nationals
Wednesday 12 September 2018
Yarrawonga Health will be better equipped to meet the health needs of the Yarrawonga community with a major upgrade if The Nationals are elected to government in November, Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy has announced.
Mr McCurdy was with Shadow Minister for Health Mary Wooldridge in Yarrawonga today to announce a Liberal Nationals Government will fund the much needed upgrade of the Hospital.
“There’s growing demand for the services at Yarrawonga Health, particularly in the busy summer months when we have an influx of visitors to town,” Mr McCurdy said.
“I’m pleased today to make the commitment that a Liberal Nationals Government will fund this upgrade, including a rebuild of the surgical theatre and administrative block, in our first term of government.”
“Initial estimates for the theatre, fit out and administration and carpark area are between $8 million to $11 million, but a feasibility study will scope out the exact costings before we begin the build.”
Mr McCurdy said our community deserved high-quality health care.
“The surgical service is located in the Hospital’s oldest building, while the operating theatre isn’t readily accessible to the acute hospital – this upgrade will deliver a better deal on health for the Yarrawonga community,” Mr McCurdy said.
“The upgrade will also deliver desperately needed improvements to the health service’s administration wing, which is currently housed in aged portable buildings that were implemented as a temporary solution decades ago.”
Ms Wooldridge said the Liberal Nationals were committed to delivering improved services for rural health care in Yarrawonga and across Ovens Valley.
“It is vital we fund and invest in top quality health services for Regional Victoria,” Ms Wooldridge said.
“This includes the need for our smaller rural health services to receive the funding and attention required to provide a high quality health service to Yarrawonga residents and the town’s visitors.”
