Funding available for Ovens Valley sports clubs
Thursday 7 December 2017
Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy is encouraging Ovens Valley sporting clubs to apply for a grant under the latest round of the 2017-18 Sporting Club Grants Program.
Mr McCurdy said grants of up to $5000 were available to allow sporting clubs to update their equipment, train their volunteers and improve their operational effectiveness.
“Grant streams like this are a great opportunity for clubs to purchase new equipment and help improve their facilities and club,” Mr McCurdy said.
“Sporting clubs play a big part in shaping and supporting our local communities. Being a part of a club provides a sense of community membership for participants and provides social interaction.
“The grants are available to non-government and not-for-profit community organisations that are delivering sport and active recreation programs across the region.”
The grants program has four categories:
Category 1: Uniform or Equipment – Grants of up to $1000 to purchase uniforms or other equipment essential for participation.
Category 2: Skill Development – Grants of up to $2000 to improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency of clubs through strategic planning or to increase community participation through accessible sport and active recreation opportunities.
Category 3: Club Operational Capacity – Grants of up to $5000 to improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency of clubs through strategic planning or to increase community participation through accessible sport and active recreation opportunities.
Category 4: Aboriginal Participation – Grants of up to $1000 for uniforms and equipment, up to $2000 for skills development training and up to $750 for travel to competition or training.
Priority will be given to projects that increase participation in communities with existing low levels of participation in sport and physical activity.
Applications are now open and close on 24 January 2018.
