Letter to the editor - Anzac Day

Friday 20 April 2018

On Wednesday 25 April, we continue to gather and remember all of those men and women who have served our communities in all theatres of war and peace keeping.

ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember the Australians who served and died for our country.

It was during this World War 1 campaign that the spirit of ANZAC, with its qualities of courage, mateship and sacrifice, was born.

As many people are aware I walked the Kokoda track with my daughter Danielle last year and we stood at the site in Kokoda where the Aussie diggers met the Japanese soldiers 75 years to the exact day.

I encourage all families to spare a moment on Wednesday and honour our diggers.

Lest we forget.
