Letter To The Editor - Mount Buffalo proposal welcomed
Monday 20 February 2017
The public meeting held on 19 February to discuss future plans for Mount Buffalo and its iconic chalet was proactive and positive.
The meeting outlined the Mount Buffalo Destination Advisory Group vision for the future of the mountain.
Up to 200 people attended – the Porepunkah hall was full which shows just how important this issue is.
The vision for Mount Buffalo and the chalet presented at the meeting was outstanding. There was a good balance of government, private and social enterprise included in the plan.
I commend those who are committed to the future of the chalet and their thorough investigations into how this can be achieved.
Tourism and conference opportunities are abundant in this region and this mountain can increase visitor participation to our whole region, not just Mount Buffalo.
Currently visitor numbers are at 180,000 per annum and this can grow exponentially if the investment and vision is cultivated.
I commend the action group and encourage further participation from the wider community.
