McCurdy calls for free RSA courses to boost staff shortages

Friday, 4th February 2022

Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy is encouraging the Victorian Government to follow the footsteps of New South Wales and introduce free Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) programs to help businesses battle with staff shortages.

Mr McCurdy said, “this initiative by the Victorian Government would help our local businesses get the staff they need to get back on their feet.”

The New South Wales Government recently announced on 2 February 2022, “[they] will fund 5,000 fee-free RSA courses to support new workers to enter the hospitality industry and help ease the staffing pressure on licensed hospitality venues*.”

“Listening to regional businesses across the Ovens Valley and Victoria it is very apparent that even in 2022 the livelihood of many businesses is still being heavily impacted by the 7-day quarantine periods.

“This is something I encourage the Victorian Government to consider,” he said.

Mr McCurdy said he will push for this in Parliament next week.
