McCurdy Welcomes Autumn Firewood Season

Monday, March 7, 2022

Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy has welcomed the newly opened firewood collection season. Mr McCurdy said, “Firewood collection plays an important part in our community, and it continues to help those who rely on the public collection to stay warm”

Members of the public who are collecting firewood are reminded to check conditions, as well as the regulations. “It is important that people are aware of the changed regulations in place, including collections limits of 2 cubic metres per person per day, and 16 cubic metres per household per financial year.”

“I also encourage everyone to look out for their neighbours who may need help collecting firewood, as well as your family members.

“Electricity prices are only going up, and this is a great way to help offset the cost of heating over the winter months.”

The Autumn firewood collection is open from March 1 through till the 30th of June.
