Men’s Shed funding now available
Friday 24 March 2017
The 2017 Men’s Shed funding round is now open.
Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy said grants of up to $60,000 were now available to construct a new men’s shed, redevelop an existing shed or co-locate a shed.
Refurbishment grants of up to $30,000 are also available.
“Men’s Sheds play a very important role in our rural communities and are one of the most powerful tools we have in helping men to remain valued and valuable members of our community,” Mr McCurdy said.
“Most Aussie men have learned from our culture that they don’t talk about feelings and emotions.
“It’s probably largely because of this that many men are prone to suffer more from isolation, loneliness and depression.”
Mr McCurdy said becoming a member of a Men’s Shed gave men a safe and busy environment where they could connect with friends and maintain an active body and mind in an atmosphere of mateship.
“I encourage incorporated not-for-profit organisations and local councils to apply for this round of funding,” Mr McCurdy said.
Applications for grants close on Friday 16 June 2017 and guidelines and application can be downloaded at
