Moyhu Recreational Reserve
19 June 2019, Mr McCURDY (Ovens Valley): My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, and the action I seek is that the minister’s office make direct contact with the Moyhu Recreation Reserve committee to discuss their infrastructure needs. Moyhu is a small community to the south of Wangaratta on the Wangaratta-Whitfield Road in the heart of the magnificent King Valley. The recreation reserve is on Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning land, and it is the sporting and community hub of this small community. Adjacent to the reserve on the western side is an unmade road, what we call a 'paper road’—one that is there on a title but does not really exist. Clearly the road is marked, but has not been formed. In fact my understanding is that it is just fenced off into the neighbouring paddocks. The recreation committee want to acquire that land and join it onto the reserve for future expansion. The committee wrote to the department nearly six months ago and are yet to receive a response. I seek that the minister’s office make contact and find a time to meet with the group to further discuss possible options going forward for the Moyhu Recreation Reserve.
