Ovens Valley motorists could save up to $800 per year

Motorists in Ovens Valley could save up to $800 per year by getting the best price at the pump under a new plan announced by the Nationals.
Speaking on the announcement, Nationals Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy said, “the price of fuel has just gone up, adding more strain onto the household budget.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for locals to get a better deal at the pump.”
To ease price pressures on Ovens Valley households, Mr McCurdy said, “A Nationals Government will invest $1 million to create a Fuel Saver app, modelled on the successful New South Wales FuelCheck app.
“The app will provide comprehensive, real-time information to motorists on current petrol prices at retail outlets near them – a handy tool that could save locals up to $800 a year.
“I know that fuel prices are particularly high in Yarrawonga and Mount Beauty, which means we need to give locals the best chance of keeping more of their money.”
To facilitate accurate pricing data and support private sector innovation, the Nationals will introduce legislation that makes fuel reporting mandatory, bringing Victoria in line with the rest of the country.
Mr McCurdy said, “the Fuel Saver app means that Ovens Valley locals will be able to find the cheapest fuel closest to them.
“This app is just another example the Nationals are doing to help relieve the ongoing cost of living pressures faced by regional Victorians.”
