Wangaratta High School sports stadium funding
Tuesday 28 August 2018
LETTER TO THE EDITOR
I was delighted to recently announce $5 million in funding that will see a brand new sports stadium built at Wangaratta High School for student and community use if The Nationals are elected to government.
I was joined by Leader of The Nationals and Shadow Minister for Regional Victoria and Decentralisation Peter Walsh to announce the funding that will complete Stage 4 of the Wangaratta High School’s masterplan.
Rural City of Wangaratta Councillor and Wangaratta High School Parents and Friends president Ashlee Fitzpatrick and Ian Pople from the Wangaratta Basketball Association were also in attendance to welcome the funding commitment.
The Nationals’ investment at Wangaratta High School will fund a community sporting and youth support hub for use by the school and our many local sports groups.
Stage 4 will see a new stadium built, including double basketball courts and first aid facilities, for use by the school and the community.
The development would greatly assist the Wangaratta Basketball Association which has been under growing pressure from increasing player numbers that have outgrown the current facility.
After nearly four years in government, Labor has continually failed to fund this important upgrade. The Nationals believe in backing projects that local communities have identified as priorities.
