Wangaratta IGA - Letter to the Editor

Thursday 2 February 2017

The closure of Wangaratta’s Supa IGA supermarket is a major blow for the business, its employees and the community.

I would like to thank the supermarket owners, Steve and Linda Condon, who provided a service and employment to residents as well as playing a significant role in our local community.

As a family owned and operated store, Steve and Linda had always given back to the region where they derived an income.

Over 14 years more than $500,000 had gone back into the community from the store through the community benefits scheme and donations to the CFA.

I feel for everyone impacted by the closure of this local business particularly the many employees - more than 70 full, part-time and casual staff worked at the supermarket.

Many shoppers supported this great local business.

Congratulations Steve and Linda for what you have achieved and all the best for the future.

Regards,

Tim McCurdy
