Tim's Story
Tim was born and raised on a dairy farm in West Gippsland. He has a long association with small regional communities, playing football for Catani and tennis for Yannathan. After completing year 12 at Caulfield Grammar School Tim worked in various vocations including interstate truck driving, the mining sector, and real estate.
In 1987 Tim and his wife Glenys moved to Cobram and in a family partnership milked in excess of 1100 Friesian dairy cows.
Tim has been involved in various community groups. He was president of Cobram-Barooga Apex Club and chair of the Peaches n Cream Festival at Cobram.
Tim worked tirelessly for the United Dairy Farmers of Victoria, advocating for Northern Victorian dairy farmers and was also heavily involved in assisting farmers during the 1993 floods and pasture renovation.
Tim entered the Victorian Parliament in 2010 as the Member for Murray Valley. He cites the rebuilding of the Numurkah Hospital after the devastating floods that ruined the old hospital as one of the most important decisions made during the term of the Coalition government.
Following a redistribution of electoral boundaries in 2014, Tim became the Member for Ovens Valley - which he continues to be to this day. The main communities in Ovens Valley are Cobram, Yarrawonga, Wangaratta, Myrtleford, Bright, and after the 2022 election, Mount Beauty.
Tim has served as a board member of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation and remains passionate about ensuring problem gamblers are able to get the support they need.
He is a strong supporter of the Hawthorn Football Club but you will find Tim at many and varied sports events.
Making rural and regional communities a better place to live is the reason Tim enjoys public life.
Tim and Glenys have four adult children and several grandchildren.
