Vale Ray Dunstan

This week in Parliament, I had the honour of paying tribute to the late Ray Dunstan, a remarkable man whose life and contribution will long be remembered in our community.

Ray’s story is one of dedication, service, and strong family values. Earlier this year, he and his beloved wife Isabel celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, an extraordinary milestone. Married in 1955 on Isabel’s 20th birthday, they went on to raise six children, Rhonda, Helen, Allison, Elizabeth, Ian, and Murray; and their family has since grown to 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Ray was a quiet but steadfast contributor to the Wangaratta community, giving his time and energy through the Lions Club and other local organisations. His leadership and commitment set an example for many, and his kindness left a lasting mark on those who knew him.

Just shy of his 96th birthday, Ray leaves behind a legacy of love, community spirit, and a life well lived. His was a story not only of personal achievement, but of shared purpose with Isabel and their family, and of a deep connection to the place he called home.

Vale, Ray Dunstan and thank you for all you gave to our region.
