Sand track to help grow Wangaratta Turf Club

Monday, February 26, 2024

The completion of a $1.1 million sand training track at the Wangaratta Turf Club will see the club go from strength to strength and continue to grow according to Nationals Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy.

Mr McCurdy attended the opening and was excited to see the project come to completion.

“This is a fantastic project that is testament to the great potential for the Wangaratta Turf Club to become a hub of racing in the North East.

“The track will enable year-round training and is easier to maintain than a traditional training track.

“This is just another great step the WTC is taking to invest back into local jobs and the local community.”

Mr McCurdy said that the Wangaratta Cup occurring on the 2nd of March is the perfect opportunity to showcase the new track.

“Make sure you get along to the Wang Cup with your family and friends.

“One of the premiere social events in Wangaratta, it also doubles as an excellent opportunity to check out the new track and see the hard work of Sean Barrett, Bill Carlile, and the whole team at the WTC.

“We have had the Minister for Racing [Anthony Carbines] up to have a look, so make sure you come along too.”
