Nationals Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy, is calling on the Victorian Labor Government to urgently address the hazardous roadside conditions on the Murray Valley Highway at Cobram East.

Local truck driver Kevin Keenan from Yarrawonga has raised concerns about trees growing through the Armco railings along the highway, posing a serious risk to motorists.

On behalf of Mr Keenan, Mr McCurdy stated, "In this crazy world of Victorian Labor, we need to remove these trees before they are claimed as native vegetation or heritage listed.

We can’t afford to have our roadsides become even more dangerous than they already are."

Mr McCurdy echoed these concerns, stressing that regional roads are already in poor condition, and now roadside hazards are increasing the risk to drivers.

“Our regional roads are unsafe enough without overgrown trees threatening to make matters worse,” Mr McCurdy said. “It’s unacceptable that basic roadside maintenance is being neglected while the government continues to turn a blind eye to the issues impacting country Victoria.”

Mr McCurdy is urging the government to take immediate action to clear the dangerous vegetation before it becomes an even greater hazard.

“We need to prioritise safety on our roads to prevent accidents and protect lives,” he said.

The Nationals will continue to advocate for safer roads and improved maintenance across regional Victoria.

Labor can't manage roads, and Victorians are paying the price.
