Nationals Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy, says families, farmers, and workers across regional Victoria are doing it tough – and they're being abandoned by the Allan Labor Government in their time of need.

Speaking in Parliament recently, Mr McCurdy gave voice to the frustrations of country communities, where the cost of living has skyrocketed, energy bills have more than doubled, and hope is wearing thin.

“People in our towns are working harder than ever and still falling behind, Mr McCurdy said.

“Power bills have more than doubled. Groceries, fuel, and rent are through the roof.

And what does the Allan Labor Government offer? A token tax cut and a $200 billion rail loop in Melbourne. It’s insulting.” Mr McCurdy said locals feel forgotten by a government that continues to prioritise city vanity projects over country livelihoods.

“In places like Wangaratta, Myrtleford and Cobram, people are exhausted.

They are not asking for much – just a fair go. But instead, they’re being thrown under the bus by a Premier who does not seem to care.”

The Nationals MP said he’s heard the same story in every local hall and small business he visits; people are at breaking point.

“Our community is proud.

We don’t complain easily. But this cost-of-living crisis is real, and it’s hurting real people – mums and dads, shop workers, young tradies, and farmers who are just trying to stay afloat,” Mr McCurdy said.

He’s determined and committed to keep pushing back against a city-centric government that has abandoned the people who keep this state running. Labor can’t manage the cost of living, and regional Victorians are paying the price.
