The Nationals' Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy, says the message from the 2025 Elmore Field Days was clear; regional and rural Victorians have had enough of the Allan Labor Government’s unfair Fire Services Property Levy.

Mr McCurdy said The Nationals’ petition to #ScrapTheTax drew overwhelming support, with people lining up in two queues to sign and show their frustration with the $3 billion tax hike.

“Our emergency service volunteers are the ones who stand on the front line, defending our communities from bushfires, protecting private property, and turning out at all hours when tragedy strikes,” Mr McCurdy said.

“It’s simply unacceptable that Jacinta Allan is slugging hardworking Victorians with a tax that she claims supports our volunteers, when in reality, it’s designed to prop up Labor’s budget black hole.”

Mr McCurdy said the strong turnout at Elmore Field Days once again highlighted the spirit and unity of country Victoria.

“Elmore Field Days are a highlight of the farming calendar, an incredible celebration of our regional communities and the industries that keep Victoria moving,” he said.

“The Nationals' will continue to fight for fairness, transparency, and policies that genuinely support our emergency service volunteers, not punish them with more taxes.”

Labor can't manage money, and regional Victorians, and Emergency Services Volunteers are paying the price.
