Nationals Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy, is encouraging local students to get involved in the 2025 Parliament Prize competition, which gives young Victorians the chance to share their views on the issues that matter most to them.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for students across our region to speak directly to Parliament as if they were an MP and highlight what’s important to their community,” Mr McCurdy said.

Now in its ninth year, the annual Parliament Prize invites Victorian students to submit a 90-second Member’s Statement video answering the question: What would you say to Parliament if you were an MP?

The competition is open to students in three categories: Grades 5 and 6, Years 7-9 and Years 10-12. Cash prizes are awarded to both students and their schools.

“I strongly encourage students, teachers and parents across Ovens Valley to get involved and showcase the voices of our next generation of leaders,” Mr McCurdy said.

Entries close at 5pm, Friday 13 June 2025. Full details, along with resources to help promote the competition, are available at vicparl.news/parlprize.

“We’ve already heard from over 4,500 students across Victoria in recent years. I look forward to seeing strong participation from the Ovens Valley this year.”
