Twelve Ovens Valley projects share in Tiny Towns funding

The Nationals' Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy, has congratulated locals who have shared in more than $394,000 in Tiny Towns funding for 12 community projects across the electorate, recognising the dedication of volunteers who continue to fight for better facilities and stronger country communities.

Communities including Falls Creek, Mount Hotham, Myrtleford, Greta, Eldorado, Porepunkah, Tawonga South, Wandiligong, Cheshunt, Mongan's Bridge and Osbornes Flat will benefit from projects designed to improve accessibility, community spaces, tourism assets and recreational facilities.

Mr McCurdy said the successful grants were a credit to the hardworking community groups and volunteers who invested countless hours into preparing applications and advocating for their towns.

"I congratulate every organisation and volunteer who played a role in securing this funding. These projects are driven by locals who know exactly what their communities need, and it's fantastic to see their commitment rewarded," Mr McCurdy said.

"Whether it's upgrading sporting facilities, improving public halls, expanding playgrounds or enhancing visitor experiences, these investments will strengthen our small towns and help ensure they remain great places to live, work and visit."

Mr McCurdy said even relatively modest investments could make a difference in regional communities by encouraging tourism, supporting local events and creating more accessible public spaces.

"Country communities deserve their fair share of investment, and these projects will help build stronger and more connected towns across the Ovens Valley," he said.

"I look forward to seeing these projects come to life and the lasting benefits they will deliver for local residents and visitors alike.

"Our tiny towns are the heart of the Ovens Valley, and I'll keep working to ensure they receive the recognition and investment they deserve."
