Unacceptable delay – Muckatah fire truck still not returned

The Nationals' Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy, has once again raised in Parliament the ongoing delay in returning the Muckatah Country Fire Authority truck, saying the lack of action is completely unacceptable.

“It has now been months since this essential, near 30-year-old truck was taken out of service for repairs in October, and despite raising the issue again in Parliament six weeks ago, we’ve had no response and no action from the Minister,” Mr McCurdy said.

“In the meantime, the Muckatah brigade is forced to rely on a near 40-year-old truck, this is simply not good enough at any time of year.”

Mr McCurdy said the delay is frustrating for local volunteers who dedicate countless hours to protecting their community. “Our firefighters deserve proper tools to do their job safely, and the community deserves confidence that help is ready when it’s needed,” he said.

He again called on the Minister for Emergency Services to prioritise the immediate return of the Muckatah truck and ensure it is fully operational without further delay.
